Joyce Family in Victoria, Australia

URGENT NOTE! There has been a change of venue.

We can no longer go to Molly Blooms (it's closing down) so instead, at the same time as given elsewhere, i.e. 1 pm or even earlier if you wish, we will meet at "The London Restaurant - Upstairs", at 92-94 Beach Street, Port Melbourne.

It's even closer to Station Pier than the original place, so

SEE YOU THERE ON SATURDAY 25th JUNE - NEXT SATURDAY

The Joyce Family in Victoria, Australia, traces its origin back to the arrival of the widowed Catherine Joyce and her family in Melbourne on 25th June 1855.

They arrived on the Hotspur after a voyage of 108 days from Liverpool, having started from the village of Whitegate or An Geata Ban, in County Galway (now part of County Clare) in Ireland, leaving behind the unmarked grave of Edmund Joyce who died in 1846 at the height of the Great Famine.

More details of the family are in the book Joyce: descendants of Edmund and Catherine Joyce 1855 to 1975 compiled by Patricia Joyce and Margaret Thomas and printed in early 1975, for the family reunion held at the Redemptorist Monastery in Ballarat on the 30th March 1975.
